The majority of the historical and cultural structures of the Cappadocia region, which has hosted countless civilizations over the years and has survived to the present day, and which has legendary fairy chimneys, are in Nevşehir.

Nevşehir, on the other hand, has a excellent  location in the very center of Anatolia. So why is this corner of paradise, which is on everyone’s lips, called “Cappadocia”? The word Cappadocia is originally a Persian word. Because the Byzantine and Roman Empires used the Latin alphabet, the name Cappadocia is used in Latin and, as you already know, in Turkish, the name Cappadocia. The meaning of this word, which comes from the Persian words “Katpa-tuka” and is called Cappadocia today, means “the land of beautiful horses”. During the period of the Cappadocia kingdom founded by the Persians, the presence of glamorous and wild horses in the region is the reason why it is called the land of beautiful horses.
